Cynthia David is a Toronto-based food and travel writer who travels the world in search of delectable stories. After a year at Queen’s University studying French, she earned a journalism degree from Ryerson University and a chef’s certificate from George Brown College, where she won a two-month scholarship to work in a one-star Michelin restaurant in Orleans, France. She then spent a decade working as Food Editor for the Toronto Sun and London Free Press. Cynthia now freelances for major Canadian and US publications including the Toronto Star, Food & Drink and Dreamscapes travel magazine. She also writes regularly for The Packer, a weekly U.S. newspaper for the fresh produce industry. She has written articles on the restaurant industry for Foodservice & Hospitality magazine and wrote several scripts for Food Factory, aired on Food Network Canada. In 1995 she was inducted as a Fellow by the Ontario Hostelry Institute. When not writing she uses her English as a Second Language certificate to work with Syrian refugees, where conversations often revolve around food.
